Important instructions for the disposal of batteries

Every end user is obligated to return used batteries according to the Battery Law.

As a distributor of batteries, we are legally obligated to accept battery returns. Used batteries supplied by us can be returned to the following address:

Used batteries may not be disposed of with household waste. The symbols of the crossed-out trash can depicted on batteries have the following meaning:

Battery Law

Pb = Battery contains more than 0.004% (by weight) lead

Cb = Battery contains more than 0.002% (by weight) cadmium

Hg = Battery contains more than 0.0005% (by weight) mercury

Used batteries may contain harmful substances or heavy metals which can be harmful to the environment and human health. The GRS Batterien Foundation organizes the collection and recycling of batteries. Used device batteries may be disposed of free of charge in containers provided by the GRS Foundation. Industrial batteries may be disposed of at municipal collection points (for example recycling centers).

Old electrical and electronic products contain recyclable materials and therefore do not belong in the household waste!

For this reason, you as a consumer are obliged to ensure proper disposal, separate from household waste, according to the German electrical law ("Law on the placing on the market, return and environmentally compatible disposal of electrical and electronic equipment"). To make this clear, all new electrical and electronic products that have been placed on the market since 2005 have been marked with the symbol of a crossed-out garbage can, as a visible sign of resource conservation and environmental protection.

The electrical law regulates what happens to the collected electrical and electronic products:

They are to be collected and transported in such a way that no dangerous substances can be released along the way. Certified waste disposal companies treat the products, render pollutants harmless and use complex procedures to recover raw materials, which are then fed back into the production process as secondary raw materials. For suitable old products, the legislator also prescribes a test to determine whether reuse would be possible. Ideally, the old products can be refurbished and reused as good used ones. Second-hand smartphones, PCs and laptops in particular are suitable for a second or third life. In this respect, the professional collection and disposal of electrical and electronic products protects the climate and the environment and also protects the earth's increasingly scarce resources.

Consumers are obliged to properly dispose of their old electrical and electronic equipment separately from household waste.
